Within the framework of the ongoing 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW), on 9 November, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh hosted the inauguration ceremony of the APEC Park in Da Nang.  In attendance were Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Ministers and Heads of Delegations from APEC member economies, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho as well as representatives of Da Nang’s departments and agencies.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh highly appreciated the support from APEC member economies, who sent in selected works of art that showcase the region’s rich cultures and contribute to the overall theme of APEC 2017 “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future”.  The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised “this APEC Park is an effort to expand and deepen understanding of APEC, connecting people-to-people, advancing cultural exchange.”

“Located by Han River, at the heart of the dynamic city of Da Nang, the APEC Park is dedicated to you, your economies and your people.  My hope it is that it will be a symbol of APEC’s innovation, vigor and spirit of cooperation, and one of the must-visit attraction for anyone traveller in Da Nang”, Deputy Prime Minister Minh concluded.

Deputy Prime Minister Minh and distinguished guests unveiled the stone-carved APEC 2017 logo, planted trees and enjoyed the artistic works meticulously sculptured by talented artisans from APEC member economies.

The APEC Park was build on a 3.047m2 triangular-shaped vacant land lot at the intersection area of 2 September Street and Bach Dang extended Street, near the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, in Hai Chau District’s Binh Hien Ward.  The park displays 18 sculptures contributed by APEC member economies.

Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho affirmed APEC Park is truly a symbol of solidarity and cooperation in the APEC community where cultural diversity has been promoted.
